Applique Workshop and a quilt for Matthew.

On August 11th I taught an applique workshop for my group - Creative Embroiderers Barnsley.
We used bondaweb and then blanket stitch by hand to surround the shapes. The techniques I covered were the two stage blanket stitch, how to lock in points and internal curves and how to join in a new thread invisibly. All these simple tips help to give a much neater finish to your applique.

Here are some of the results.
On the same evening we presented this playmat and bag to one of our members, Joan and her new baby Matthew. The playmat was made by some of our members including myself and Kath (in photo). Kath isn't really so short - I am just tall!

My Pieces on display at Festival of Quilts

Here are the photos of my miniature quilt and sewing machine cover on display at the Festival of Quilts.

It was lovely to see them there with all the other entries. No prizes but that's not the reason for entering is it?
