Log Cabin Cushion Cover for Running With Scissors Sheffield

On November 12th I did a workshop for Running With Scissors in Sheffield.
We made log cabin cushion covers in the 'Quilt as you go' method.
Here are the finished cushions!

It was a lovely new venue in Meersbrook Sheffield and everyone had a very enjoyable day with lots of time to play with bright modern fabrics.

I will be returning to Running With Scissors for a two day Patchwork Quilt workshop in the Spring of 2012.

Strings and Crumbs Workshop

On October 15th I did a workshop for the ladies in my Embroidery and Quilting group entitled 'Strings and Crumbs'.
In the morning we made string pieced stars.
Here are some photos of completed blocks.

In the afternoon we moved on to crumb piecing.

Cherry made a lovely doll quilt top.

Things get a bit messy with all those scraps!

Here are some of the lovely crumb blocks they made.

Liberated Piecing Workshop at Boston Spa

This past month I have been very busy teaching. I have had 4 Saturday workshops in a 6 week period and have also been lucky enough to start a new weekly class on Wednesdays in Thorpe Hesley near Rotherham.
Anyway, I think it is about time I reported on some of those past workshops, starting with the one on October 8th for the Tuesday Quilters at Boston Spa.
We started with a nice easy liberated square in a square block.
Then we moved onto liberated stars
 Lots of lovely blocks produced.
This one was the most liberated - Gwen Marston herself would have been proud of this one!
In the afternoon we moved onto asterisk blocks which are great fun to make.
And at the end of the workshop we tried some crumb piecing.
We had a lovely day and the ladies went home with lots of inspiration for new liberated quilts.
I am looking forward to joining you all again for another workshop in 2012!

Liberated Piecing workshop

In October I am going to teach this workshop for the Tuesday Quilters in Boston Spa and I realised that I had never posted these photos from the workshop I did with Barnsley Creative Embroiderers last October.
For this workshop I give instructions on how to make 6 liberated blocks and people decide what they would like to do.
Its a great way to use up your scraps to make charity quilts or it can be the start of a new quilt.

I

It was a very enjoyable day and some great quilts were made following on from this workshop.
